If you have been following my adventures on Instagram or Facebook, you probably know by now that I love getting outside for a hike or mountain bike ride. One of my favorite spots is Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park, which is right here where I live in Orange County, California.
Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park is a popular area for the locals who enjoy hiking, biking, and horseback riding. This is the perfect place for you to get a good feel for the fun hikes that South Orange County has to offer. If you are planning a trip to the Orange County area I definitely recommend that you visit Whiting Ranch Wilderness Park!
The park is popular among hikers for its gorgeous Red Rock Canyon Trail, which you would never imagine exists in Orange County. Mountain bikers like to head to this park for the thrill of “The Luge” loop, which extends a little beyond Whiting Ranch and has some challenging trails.
With 23 different trails to choose from, there’s a lot of variety in this park! Most of the trails are easy to moderate, but if you are looking for a more strenuous workout I recommend you try Dreaded Hill and Mustard Road. The park map has 3 scenic viewpoints to choose from, all offering excellent views of Orange County.
This is absolutely one of my favorite parks to hike (and mountain bike) because it offers several different loops, all of which are perfect for the beginner to the slightly experienced hiker and/or biker. There is nothing too difficult in this park; if you are physically fit you can handle any hike at Whiting Ranch. You can find some of my recommended hikes at the end of this post.

Need to enhance your photos?
I am NOT a professional photographer, but it is something that I am passionate about and I am continuing to learn more and more. I have listed a few resources below that I use and they have drastically helped improve my photos. If you are someone who is looking for ways to improve as well, these are worth looking into.
Adobe Lightroom CC
Check out Adobe’s Lightroom CC Plans for photo editing AND cloud storage. I love Lightroom CC for the convenience of being able to have access to and edit my photos from anywhere. Plus, there are tons of Lightroom presets out there which allow you to quickly edit your photos with just one click (even mobile versions that can be used with the free Lightroom app- no Lightroom subscription necessary!).
Another thing I love about the Lightroom CC plan is that I have SO MUCH storage, I will probably never run out. I no longer need to worry about having my photos using up space on my computer since everything is saved on the Cloud. It’s also super convenient having access to my photos on my phone, no computer needed!
Presets make life so much easier. They are basically like having a custom built filter for your photos. They are super easy to use and drastically cut down editing time. If you are active on Instagram I highly recommend trying these out. The amazing presets that I use for my Instagram can be found here.
Digital Photography Complete Course
The book I use to learn everything I need to know is the Digital Photography Complete Course by David Taylor. It is super detailed but easy to understand, and explains everything you need to know about shooting, editing, and equipment! Get your copy here.
